Kaitlin and Brad's Harry Potter meets The Hobbit meets Game of Thrones Themed Wedding at Mapleside Farms in Brunswick, Ohio
I’m not much of a traditionalist. I appreciate traditions at weddings and love the lineage and personalization that comes along with it. But there is just something about a non-traditional wedding that sets my creative soul on fire. I live for offbeat details. I love when my couples aren’t afraid to be different and customize their wedding to suit their needs to show who they are.
When I first met Kaitlin and Brad, they told me all about the different kind of wedding they were planning. I’m sure my eyes lit up because it was so refreshing to hear about all of these unique details! Kaitlin had me from “we want pictures with our dogs” and “I want a green dress”. But I never could’ve envisioned the incredible design of all of the details. Kaitlin is a florist at The Urban Orchid in Cleveland, Ohio so I knew the flowers were going to have me swooning but didn’t realize how many times I’d have to pick my jaw up off of the floor from all of the beautiful designs. Everyone hit it out of the park, from the florals to the tablescapes.
We started the day at Kaitlin and Brad’s home, where the full bridal party and their parents were all hanging out and getting ready. And, of course, the animals were present! There were kitties crawling into tote bags to pups wearing floral necklaces running around and shoving their faces into my camera bag. It was my favorite kind of chaos! When I tell you that I can photograph details all day long, I really mean I could photograph details all day long. Kaitlin loves details as much as me, so you best believe this blog is sprinkled with TONS of detail shots. I couldn’t help myself. Plus, they had a velvet emerald chair that was completely fitting for their wedding colors. I found some window light and posted up in a corner, totally smitten with gorgeous details, the sound of the rain hitting the window outside and the occasional puppy pet here and there.
Sure it was pouring - ALL DAY. But we made the most of it! I always have my handy umbrellas at the ready and Kaitlin stocked up on clear bubble umbrellas, just in case. They made an appearance during the first look, which was the absolute sweetest! Their sweet old pup named Maddie was outside with us to be a part of the special moment and all of the feels happened. Kaitlin and Brad are the kind of couple that are just so incredibly and blissfully in love. Their love is fully present and totally visible at all times, which is such a special thing to have. To see how emotional Brad was when he saw his bride for the first time had me fighting back tears behind my camera. I knew from that point on just how emotional and just how celebratory the rest of the day would be.
The ceremony and reception was just as laid back as the day started. Everyone enjoyed the atmosphere, great food, lots of drinks and dancing to great music. And I can’t forget the late night snack! They had Auntie Anne’s pretzels and ice cream from Sweet Moses, which was a top notch choice on their part! 10/10 recommend the late night snack ya’ll.
With how crazy and wonderful this year has been, this wedding was such a great way to wrap up my wedding season and my year. Kaitlin and Brad, you guys make my heart so full - I’m so glad to have met you and been on this journey with you! Congratulations lovebirds!! <3 #winteriscoming2018
