Marcus and Anthony's Winter Engagement Session at Chase Tower in Downtown Warren, Ohio
One thing I love about being a photographer is getting to meet so many new people. As easily as my profession connects me with new people, it also gives me an opportunity to reconnect with people I haven't talked to in a long time. With Marcus and Anthony, I get both of these connections. I've known Marcus since high school (I definitely won't say how many years ago THAT was) but met Anthony for the first time at our consultation. Of course it was nice to catch up with Marcus, but it also made me so happy that he found Anthony because they compliment each other so well!
We got together on a chilly day in March to shoot their engagement photos. Marcus used to work at the Chase Bank Building (Chase Tower) in downtown Warren, Ohio, which has since closed and transformed into an event venue. When they mentioned wanting to shoot there, I secretly squealed - how can you not get excited about a GORGEOUS old building with marble everything and intricate detailing literally everywhere?! Plus, they had their first date nearby at The Mocha House, so it seemed fitting to shoot in downtown Warren because it's part of their story. We spent the other half of our session shooting in their home with their sweet adopted kitty, Piper.
As if in home, lifestyle-type sessions aren't personal enough, it was also where Marcus proposed to Anthony! They had decided to purchase both of their rings on a spontaneous shopping trip to Tiffany's and then tucked them away until either one proposed to the other. Marcus planned out the proposal. Since Anthony's favorite holiday is Christmas, Marcus chose to pop the question at their Ugly Christmas Sweater party, surrounded by their closest friends and family! He asked everyone to get together for a group picture. While everyone was gathering, Marcus ran to the bedroom to get their kitty and a little sign that he made that said, "Will you marry my dad?", which Piper wore around her collar. He rounded the corner, where everyone was waiting, got down on one knee and asked Anthony if he'd spend forever with him and Piper. I love that not only the cat was included (ya'll know I love animals!) but all of their closest people were there to ultimately celebrate with them!
Now they're planning their Fall wedding at The Avalon in Warren, Ohio. The wedding will be a very easy-going and relaxed atmosphere, with navy, gold and grey colors and white flower centerpieces to keep the design beautiful and simplistic. I love their style and I really think this wedding is going to be an absolute blast. Plus, I was told there will be a variety of 90s and 2000s pop music - so keep a look out for me living my best life behind my camera, singing every word to every song ;]
