Elaine and Gary's Backyard Microwedding | Cortland, Ohio
Backyard weddings??? I’m here for them!!! Especially when the wedding is one of my family members. When my cousin, Elaine, contacted me last year about her springtime wedding, I was so excited to have her wedding date open and honored to get the chance to photograph this wedding. The goal was to keep things simple, which really made for a relaxed day. She got ready at her mother’s home, with her children and her mom by her side. While the getting ready portion wasn’t high on her list of important shots, there was one specific photo Elaine asked for that might be one of my favorite photos of the whole day. Sitting on the bed was her mom’s wedding album, which was a real treat to look at in itself. But there was one specific picture of her grandma putting the veil in her mom’s hair, and the bridesmaids by her side, that Elaine was inspired by and wanted to recreate in our own way. Seeing three generations of incredible women in one picture is an absolute treasure. You’ll see both images when you scroll down :]
After we got the important pre-ceremony shots, we headed next door to the family farm where the ceremony and reception were being held. A beautiful arbor made from fallen pear trees on the farm was set up in front of the most beautiful birch tree. The big white barn sat behind the arbor as well, which made for one beautiful backdrop. Gary was there, waiting patiently for his bride. His face when he saw Elaine walking towards him truly said it all. There was so much love and joy in his eyes, which made me even more excited for Elaine to marry him! Their ceremony was short and sweet, just how I like it! Afterwards, we walked the property for some photos and then joined the party. It was seriously a lovely day, and I’m so happy I could be a part of it! Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Broderick!! <3
