Brad and Kaitlin's Winter Museum Engagement Session at the Cleveland Museum of Art in Cleveland, Ohio
The online world can be crazy and sometimes seems impersonal, but it also allows an opportunity to connect with people we may not have otherwise. Even more-so exciting is when you see someone online and already know you're meant to connect. From the first email Kaitlin sent me, I knew we'd be a good fit for each other. I mean, I get emails all the time that describe weddings but this one really hooked me in. Kaitlin and Brad are a very non-traditional couple and it's super refreshing. We live in a world where trends come and go frequently and I see the same things over and over again in the wedding industry. Don't get me wrong, I see SUCH beauty in traditions and can definitely appreciate them for their sentimental meanings. Ya'll know I'm a sucker for the personal experience! I just find myself, personally, leaning towards the non-traditional side of the spectrum and these two are completely tailoring their wedding to who they are as a couple.
The second I saw the words "cozy hobbit" as a theme to their wedding, I may or may not have squealed out loud. On top of that, the wedding will be very earthy with olive green, teal, copper, orange and grey, plus lots of candles and mixed colored glass decor. I die. The wedding will be at Mapleside Farms Lodge in Brunswick, Ohio - which all seems like a perfect way to spend a December day, all cozy inside a lodge with a giant stone fireplace, great food and an intimate celebration!
We shot their engagement session on cold and windy day in February. It didn't seem to matter though because I think we kept warm by laughing our asses off. Kaitlin and Brad bring such joy to everything. They were so lovey and sweet that I had to yell at them to save the good stuff for when I'm ready to shoot! Yeah, they're that adorable.
We started at the Cleveland Museum of Art and then made our way to the Cleveland Museum of Natural History and the Cleveland Botanical Gardens.
As I've been learning more about these two, I've truly come to see just how beautiful their journey is. If there were any two people in this world that were meant for each other, it's THESE two. You can just tell that they're not only madly in love, but seriously best friends who are there for each other. The first time they met in person, Brad picked Kaitlin up to take her to get cat food because she spent her day in the ER with a cut on her hand from work and totally forgot to grab some afterwards (totally understandable). We may not realize it but it's little things, like an unconventional first meeting, that can really help to build the foundation of a relationship. That, or maybe Brad's Tinder picture, holding a baking sheet of asparagus or Kaitlin's inviting smile and great personality. Whatever it is, I totally see how quirky and fun and bubbly these two are together and it makes me so happy. I'm so excited to spend more time with them and really can't wait for their wedding day!
