Julie and Jared's Romantic Summer Garden Engagement Session at the Rose Gardens in Mill Creek Park in Youngstown, Ohio
“We’re really awkward,” she said as we walked into the gardens. If I had a dollar for every time someone said that to me before I took their picture, I’d be rich by now. But just look at Jared and Julie! They are far from awkward! They were absolutely wonderful models and went along with all of my crazy ideas. They even threw in a few ideas of their own, which I absolutely love! We had the most beautiful golden light for their session and the Rose Gardens was really putting on a show with all of the beautiful blooms. I said it before and I’ll say it a million more times - photographing in the Rose Gardens in Mill Creek Park never gets old!
I really enjoyed getting to know Jared and Julie better at their engagement session! Their personalities came out more and more as the session went on. Their differences really compliment each other as much as their similarities do. I feel like that’s when you know you’re meant to be with someone for the long haul. That, and the fact that they’ve been together for a really really long time and continue to want to do life together.
Jared and Julie are high school sweethearts - they’ve been together since Julie was in 8th grade! The way they interact with each other certainly shows me just how well they know each other and just how comfortable they are with one another. Needless to say, their wedding has been a long time coming and it’s no wonder they’re so excited to celebrate with their friends and family next May at The Lake Club!
I love proposals that are well planned probably as much as ones that are spontaneous. I’m sure with being together for such a long time, they kind of figured they’d get married, but on the week of Jared’s birthday, he decided he would propose. They went to his grandmother’s for his birthday party and on the cake, Jared had it decorated saying, “Will you marry me?” Julie was completely surprised to say the least! Now, they’re planning a romantic spring wedding, where they’re really looking forward to spending their wedding day with their closest people :]
