Jenna & Jay's Winter Engagement Session at Mill Creek Park in Youngstown, Ohio
Jenna and Jay are about as sweet as they come! When we initially met quite a few months ago to chat about their wedding, and I totally fell for their cute little family - especially when their little baby boy woke up from his nap and flashed them baby blues at me, accompanied by MANY sweet little smirks! I loved hearing all of the happy giggles from that cutie while I chatted with his parents about their wedding planning and all of the fun details!
We tried planning their engagement session, but the silly Ohio weather wasn't cooperating too well. Winter in Ohio is tough because the sun stays hidden for the majority of it and it could literally sunshine, rain and snow in the same day. We finally got a couple of hours where the weather stayed consistent and made the most of it! We may not have gotten that winter snow or glowy sunset light, but we did have those gorgeous late Fall/early Winter fields that made the most perfect backdrop as we navigated our way through the Wetlands at Mill Creek Park in Youngstown, Ohio. Jenna and Jay were troopers and I totally appreciate them walking through the mushy grass and dodging puddles to get to each location! Oh, and making their way through two different fields without ever complaining! I think it was totally worth it, don't you? ;]
The first day that we met, Jenna and Jay told me they had been together for years and actually were high school sweethearts! Jenna admittedly made the first move and approached Jay at a party. They eventually had their first date at a haunted house with a bunch of friends after a school dance and were pretty much inseparable after that! Jenna said that Jay's sweetness and shyness was what attracted her to him the most, while Jay said it was Jenna's bright blue eyes :P
When it comes to the proposal, Jay said he kind of winged it. I feel like I should preface this by saying that Jenna and Jay are super into the Fourth of July and all the festivities (family time, parades, fireworks and all the good times that the Fourth can bring). Since the ring Jay ordered for Jenna came in on the 3rd of July, the day everyone was celebrating with fireworks and family, the jewelry store owner met with Jay after hours to let him pick the ring up since he wanted to propose to Jenna that night! Jenna's mom, sister and a few friends knew what was going on, but Jenna had absolutely no clue. So while they sat in the back of the truck at the Covelli Center, watching the firework show, Jay proposed to Jenna during the Grand Finale!
So I guess it's only fitting that they'll be getting married on Fourth of July weekend this year! They're planning a really rustic/chic wedding with wooden crates, mason jars, wildflowers and candles with accents of dusty blue and burgundy to really set the tone. Jenna absolutely can't wait to walk down the aisle and see Jay's reaction and the both of them can't wait to celebrate with their friends and family!
