What Every Stylist Wants their Brides to Know | Guest Post by Bianca Heasley of Studio 7 in Youngstown, Ohio
Welcome to Guest Blog Week here at Mae B Photo! This whole week, some awesome vendors in the wedding industry will be sharing some helpful tips on my blog. Today's guest is Bianca Heasley, a totally awesome hair and make up artist in Youngstown, Ohio. Not only does she style bridal parties, she also rocks out amazingly sexy makeup looks for the badass husband and wife team Jennifer and Brian Dirksen - boudoir photographers at Sheer Photography. She ALSO offers cuts, colors and lash extensions at Studio 7 in Boardman, Ohio. Did I mention how she gives me my gorgeous red locks, too?! :P I'm so grateful she took some time out of her busy schedule to share some info with ya'll!
From Bianca:
First of all HELLO! I'm Bianca Heasley, a full time wife, momma and beauty specialist! I have been in the beauty industry since 2011 and I can tell you, my passion truly lives and breathes in this field. I specialize in formal event styling, having worked in a full service bridal salon for years. I also offer typical salon services such as colors, cuts, waxing and lash extensions! I freelance with two or three handfuls of beautiful photographers, all with different print types, visions and creative flows. I strive to recreate natural and artistic beauty on the gorgeous canvas captured by these professionals.
My team and I offer in salon and on location services. Every hour leading up to you getting your dress on, donning your veil and whisking you away to your ceremony are planned by your wedding professionals so you don't have to worry about a thing! I want to share with you some tips to help you get the wedding look of your dreams so you can feel extra confident on your wedding day when all eyes are on you!
1. Book the salon or stylist ASAP!
So here it is, the ring is FINALLY on your finger! CONGRATULATIONS are in order! Now, after your venue is booked and you give out the "I can't do this without you by my side" bridesmaid boxes, PLEASE make sure you are giving your stylist notice of the big day. THE absolute last thing your stylist wants to do is to turn you and your wedding party away because they're already booked. About a month before the big day, it is a necessity that your stylist knows how many girls are getting hair and makeup. Don't forget to consider moms, flower girls or any other prominent figures on your special day that may need the beautifying services as well.
2. Schedule your bridal test run!
The bride is clearly the VIP come wedding day so stop guessing if that Pinterest inspired makeup/updo is going to rock on you in real life and schedule your test run! I promise, on the biggest, most important little finger that I have - your stylist wants you to LOVE your look on the big day. IF that test run isn't everything you've been dreaming of, PLEASE DO NOT hesitate to tell them to change it up! If you need your eyes lightened up or your hair more voluminous, let your stylist know! I tell my brides that scheduling their test run on a date such as their bridal shower, bachelorette party or engagement session is ideal. You're going to look fabulous so you might as well show the world how hot you are! We'll test everything from makeup and hair to adding your veil or head pieces, which will be removed before you go celebrate and show off your makeup look.
3. Come with your hair dirty and your skin fresh!
PLEASE I repeat PLEASSSSSSSSSSE do not have the salon team show up at 6am to beautify you and your girls and tell us to hold on because you haven't showered, you need to wash your hair OR you're still wearing last night's makeup. Wedding days are already stressful so don't add being late to your ceremony to the list because you didn't prepare. Have dry hair, a clean and moisturized face, mimosas and a smile!
4. LISTEN to the professional!
LADIES. I make an effort to ask you what your everyday makeup routine may consist of. I want to know, not only to see what awesome products you may be using BUT to gauge how you're going to react to a full face of makeup for the first time since prom. When I tell you that your makeup may need to be a SMIDGE darker than your everyday look, it's not because I think you'd look fabulous in drag. It's because your overall look will photograph WAY better than without. When I tell you that you're going to hate yourself with a super slicked back tight Kim K. bun, it's because you're going to look like a floating, bumpy bald head on top of a cupcake dress in print. Yes, I'm talking about the 30x40 canvas you're planning on hanging above your fireplace. Not every look works for everyone, which is also why test runs are so important to determine if the look you've been dreaming of will actually work with your unique features!
Moral of the story - listen to the professional's opinions. You wouldn't have asked us to be a part of THE biggest day of your life if you didn't trust us! We want to have fun with you and your girls! So pop the champagne and enjoy the LAST morning before you're a MRS!
Xoxo.
