It feels like I’ve been working on this nursery forever. In reality, I kind of have. A few years go, when I started planning how I’d decorate the spare bedroom, I kept in mind that eventually this space would be turned into the nursery so an easy transition into that was what I planned. Unfortunately, life got in the way and the spare bedroom just became a dumping ground for random household items that didn’t have a proper home. Needless to say, I never got around to finishing it. With only two walls stripped of super old, cigarette smoke ridden wallpaper and glue, I still had a lot of work to do in getting this space baby ready….
Read MoreSeven years ago on this day, Meat and Sophie were born. I remember going to see them and the rest of their litter and just being so in love with every single wrinkle on their bodies. A few weeks after they were born, Lou sent me to pick out which pup we were going to adopt. I immediately fell in love with Soph and Lou was obsessed with Meat. I distinctly remember sending him tons of pictures of them and then deciding that we would take Meat because he really wanted him. Then Lou said, well let’s adopt them both, and my heart exploded. Ironically, it turns out that they were best friends in their litter - always cuddling and being close together. It’s like they knew, or we knew, or maybe we were all just meant to be a family together….

Preparing for this trip was super stressful. It was the first time in years I was away from Lou and the dogs for that long of a time period. Not only that, this was wedding number 5 for me in September alone, and my wedding season wasn’t even at it’s peak yet. Oh, and I had just a month and a half prior found out that I was pregnant. Talk about stress! ;] On top of all of that, I knew that we essentially had one day of no driving and non-work related things, so I tried to figure out how I could jam in all of the touristy Bar Harbor things into an afternoon…

We got engaged in October (4th) five years ago and married on October 4th four years ago. Plus, Fall is officially in full swing, with the vibrant warm tones of the trees, the browns and flannels and plaids, boots, cozy sweaters, hot apple cider, apple and pumpkin everything, pumpkin patches, haunted houses, zombie crawls and all of the spooky things in between.
