Jillian and Josh's Micro Summer Wedding | Running Horse Farm | Geneva, Ohio
Okay okay okay, I’ll just say it. Covid has really made 2020 a year of surprises, mostly bad ones. But I will admit, the trend of micro weddings that this pandemic has thrust upon 2020 couples is actually a blessing in disguise! They’re intimate with very minimal bells and whistles, which helps everyone focus on the couple and their love rather than material things. To me, that’s what weddings are all about anyway, so it’s nice to be in the realm of smaller weddings. Jillian and Josh contacted me a few months ago and threw this intimate day together rather quickly (props, my friends!). It was such a lovely day with beautiful weather, tons of scenic views to take in at Running Horse Farm in Geneva, Ohio, and a naturally gorgeous ceremony and reception space that truly called for the “less is more” approach. So really, the day worked out perfectly!
Since I hadn’t had much time before the wedding to get to know these two, it was so nice getting tons of “bride and groom” time for photos. Jillian and Josh took the very non-traditional route with pretty much everything, from essentially no bridal party to first look photos, I had tons of extra time to focus my attention on them. We laughed, we made ridiculous jokes and conversation, we chased light around the property - it was the best! My favorite part was watching them interact. They are truly so supportive of each other and the total lovey dovey type (with a side of sarcasm, right Josh?). I just love their quirky sense of humor and kind spirits!
After we ran around taking photos, it was time to get hitched! They had a very sweet and simple ceremony overlooking the pond next to the barn. From there, it was BBQ and drinks and cannolis! YES!!! We took one last trip around the property during sunset and let me tell you, those last shots of the day were pure magic. I feel so much gratitude to my couples, who trust my vision and know that, no matter how silly it seems, we’re making some beautiful art together. Jillian and Josh, you two are gems. I am sooooo glad our paths crossed and I wish you both nothing but love and light in your new journey together! Congratulations!! <3
